I had the same problem with ip/ie activation. I launched the problem app as administrator and then used my email/od serial and the activation was able to write the sig.bin. I hope this solves your problem too as it appears to be working for me. I have uac on and now I can launch both packages with no activation problems......Hope this makes sense...

@Bichur, it is not a separate application, you're correct about that, it is one of
two related applications IP installs (IconPackager and Icon Explorer).
If he uses IP4, then this would be related to the activation issues with IP
which I too suffer from.

No form of activation of it has been successful for me other than one lasting one session (i.e until some part of IP is unloaded from memory).

I've never heard of an Icon Explorer separate app.

Hey RobJK, I would suggest uninstall and reinstall.

Maybie I was doing to much while i installed Object desktop? I was doing scans and was on the internet and geting my pc back up and running?

The two things I have in bold from your post should have been done one at a time. You should never be installing anything or getting your system back up and running when running scans.

RobJK ....it's a simple decision....on one hand you have 500 image files you cannot access....on the other you have $30 or so to get a proggy that will access them for you.

It's a no-brainer...depending on whether those images are worth $30.

Since you are so in a pickle about it all...I'd say the answer is yes....

i would also suggest you install a security suite like zone alarm or something.......if you dont, if you do aleady have one, i suggest changing it, since it dosent seem to be working.........

I've used this program before, and it has worked pretty well. However I can't guarantee/promise it will work for you.

No harm in trying it though. The site says it works on Vista ....I have it on an XP machine.

...if it doesn't work, just uninstall it.

Rob, if you have any doubts run the on-line free scanners from two of the top AV producers thru' your machine. Yep, it's free and I'd trust these two from ESET and Kaspersky rather than anything that AVG produces. Here's both links:-

Actually that's not all bad news. Since you hadn't posted what OS, when I compared with XP I came up with unmodifed original files, and I knew I was current on all MS updates for XP, plus what Neil had said , all that made me think possibly a trojan. You should compare your files in question (the properties) with others who are running Vista Home Premium. AVG shouldn't be alerting you to any updates being done by MS during updates. I would definitely contact them about what their software is doing and why it's notifying you of system file changes that are in fact nothing more than OS updates by MS, if that's in fact the case.

I had one of those entries,don't remember which ,over three weeks ago. The other four I got after installing SP1 .I've only had AVG since 1/15 so I'm not sure but I think it's more of a notification than an alert. I know my system is clean. I've got Vista w/ defender and at least four other means of scanning for malware. I only have WB and ObjectDock btw, not ODNT (sigh),maybe next year. I agree with Philly0381, I wouldn't worry too much about it, but contacting AVG may provide answers. Maybe if enough users request it, they'll add a means of reveiwing what those changes were and the dates and other details that seem to be missing in the reports. Good Luck,RobJK

RobJK don't go into a panic mode, what BigDogBigFeet posted was his opinion based upon what you had posted. Why don't you go to AVG and ask the question and see what that say.

Just about every program you will run to check for virus or malware have the chance of finding something. They go about checking in different ways, this is to say their programs are not all written with the same code or run the same engine, as some folks like to call it.

Bottom line if you normally run virus and malware scans once a week and practice good security procedures more than likely you are okay. Having said that it is always a good thing to check things out once in a while.

Hi RobJK! What OS are you running XP SP2 with all current updates? If so, I checked my system and those files have original dates version 5.1.2600.2180 08/10/2004. If you are running Windows XP then try downloading this and running it WWW Link. It will check for any active virusues in memory and some other effective means. Not comprehesive for all malware but, what you're describing sounds like possibly a trojan.

Those files are not being changed by any OD apps.

So either you installed some Windows updates which may have updated those files, or you may have a virus.

I see that also RobJK. As you point out it shows those files changed since the last scan. It could have been Object Desktop or any program that you updated, added or deleted.

Question 1...yes, it is part of it.

If you have an Object desktop subscription, you should be running the beta of DeskScapes, version 1.95[b].028 is the newest version I show. It will run on Vista premium and it will allow you to run any Dream in the gallery.

As far as I know, the only version 2.0 that is currently out is the preview that allows you to use the 3 dreams that comes with it.

best way would be to download SDC and install on the new - register - use it to download and install the vista and vista ready apps

you could copy archives from one to the other on a disk, but then you could run into issues if not paying attention by installing a xp version on vista

Also....if you make larger backgrounds I've found that shrinking them down from a larger size doesn't cause distortion like enlarging them from a smaller one.

Well, once you make the 2650x1600, you can resize/crop to make the other two (that's how I've had to modify some for personal use).

Always remember: it's easier to scale/size down from a large image than it is to take a small image and make it larger.

(I'll just reiterate here):

Just do the largest size for each major screen ratio.

Widescreen 16:9: 2650x1600 (that way *anyone* with a widescreen, be it 1280x800 or 1920x1200 can use it).
Fullscreen 4:3: 1600x1200 (as above, anyone with a fullscreen can use this one, 800x600 or 1600x1200 itself).
Fullscreen 5:4: 1280x1024 (this one is an oddball, doesn't scale down from either of the above).

Only 3 resolutions in the zip should help on filesize as compared to making a version for each and every resolution.

Well what I am woried about is the cursor fx.

yes because theme manage does not recognize cursorFX is installed ( it has not been programmed to look for cursorfx)

The solution i gave you will work for all master/premium suites ,as well as most the regular suites for extracting the Included cursor FX package and applying it manually. Instead of having to search the libraries to find it.

When you DL a suite "typically" it has all the files within it. changing the file extension from .suite to .zip will allow you to enter the file and pull out the CursorFX theme,then rename the .zip back to .suite. This will allow you to reuse the suite again and the cursor FX theme will now be extracted for manual use.

can't wait! Thanks Robjk! also, I know beachy was made by someone else, but it would be nice to have a sound scheme similar to that one, but with a complete scheme. I live near the shore and those sounds are really nice for me. I would love to see something combining the windchimes and a background of the ocean noises (surf , gulls , occasional ship bell or foghorn). then it would sound just like the outside of my home!(minus the ship bells and fog horns,.. I'm not quite that close!)

Question 2: yes, as long as you are the main user on both and you only use one at a time

Quaestion 1: your obbar files are probably borked.........this will require you to start over in customizing RC......uninstall > delete folder C:\Program Files\Stardock\Object Desktop\RightClick > reboot (can't hurt) > reinstall via SDC

You might do a forum search on the RC problem first. I remember seeing it in earlier versions, maybe someone else found a fix I'm not aware of.

No. For Premium/Master suites that have included cursors, which are In the new curfx format that Theme manager don't recognize. You would follow my directions to extract them from the suite and manually apply the cursors.

Adding stuff to the suite will not enable theme manager to run curfx ,as theme manager has not been programed to see that curfx exists yet, and can not run the CurFX files.

Purchased suites would of course be a different story, if you are having a problem with one of those you'd need to contact the seller.

A purchased master suite is a complete file set you download, all files for that paid for suite are included within the theme's ".suite" file or in a zip.

If they are inside a zip you can extract them and apply individually.

If they are in a ".suite" file you can rename the .suite to .zip and extract the files you wish like the cursorFX/ curXPtheme. then rename it back to .suite when done.

***Mind you this only works with current Theme suites packaged with Theme manager and not with the MyColors packages, as they are encoded.***

As far as I know no Premium or master suites offered on WC. have been Built with MyColors packaging.

Even though I have already paid for and downloaded CursorFX, I am still using CursorXP because Theme Manager 2007 refuses to recognize it. Frankly, I don't think they should have released FX until they had at least a beta version of Theme Manager ready to issue with it. It's not smart marketing to release a product intended to be used with other programs, and then not having them working together.

Upspeak was/is the stupid California 'Valley' habit of ending pretty much everything as a question. I have no idea why people would do that. All it does is make the speaker appear devoid of intelligence.

A basic example using "Steve":

Steve: "Steve?"

At this point I would consider giving "Steve" an assigned seat in the front of the short bus, as I fear he may get lost in the back.

The intent of my 'answers' to your 'questions' in reply #14 was to specifically point out that which I referred in my 1st reply: the confusion of upspeak.

2. A "paragraph" containing 808 words consisting of 3,721 characters (not counting the 800 spaces) taking up 52 lines in Word using Times New Roman @ 12 is just way too long and unmitigatedly screams 'decaf!'

Too much text in one big block causes most people to not read it. This is mentioned by the majority replying here. Put at least one blank line between paragraph content. If you're using SDC to post, use ctrl+m 2 times after the end of a paragraph.

"No wrong" is not quite valid when it comes to writing. If your artistic 'style' of writing causes your audience to not read what you have written, then your 'art' fails to do what you intend.
